Corn Day!

Last week, my co-organizer hosted a corn day.  She had 2 corn crafts, and we taste tested different ways to eat corn.  We tried canned corn, popcorn, corn nuts, hominy, baby corn, and mini corn bread muffins.  The kids tasted everything.  Yes they didn't like all the things, but they at least tried one bite of each.  Once they ate a bite of everything, we brought out the "corn" cupcakes.  I found these in the book Hello Cupcake, and have wanted to make them for forever.  The kids just ate the jelly beans off the top.  Our crafts were really fun and messy!  Amanda had a picture of a corn cob printed out, we smeared glue over the cob part, and then put un-popped popcorn all over it.  Then came the really messy one.  Each kid got a piece of construction paper.  We set out plates with different colors of washable paint along with a small piece of cooked corn on the cob.  They got to roll the cob in the paint and then roll it along the paper.  D really got into it, and she just wanted to keep going.  The kids thought the messy crafts were great fun.  Thanks again Amanda!

Sesame Street Live

These next few posts, the pictures are not very good quality and they are from the beginning of May. The reason is because the kids and I went to Sesame Street Live with my mom and I forgot the digital camera! So I headed to Walgreens and picked up a disposable one. Needless to say I just finished the camera and got it developed.

Sesame Street Live was great! The kids had a blast, Grammy bought them lunch before hand, t-shirts, and a program to remember it by. I picked up some popcorn for all of us to share, and L ate the entire small box himself. He loves popcorn!

L's first movie in a real theater!

My friend Jackie has been offering to come and watch D for me so I can take L to the movies. Today was that day! We went to the dollar theater here in town and watched Wall-E. They had booster seats for the kids so that was fun. I even got us a junior popcorn! We got there toward the end of the short film at the beginning. It was a little hard to get in the seats because it was so dark in there, but L did so great!! He sat through the entire film, asked questions, ate all his popcorn and teddy grahams, and was even sad when Wall-E was "hurt". Toward the end of the movie L did want to sit in my lap which was fine by me, the only problem was that he leaked through his diaper and all over me and my jeans!! So I just changed his diaper in the aisle since it was so dark, there were only 4 other people in the theater, and he would have had a fit if I took him out. It was tons of fun, and I can't wait to take him again. The only thing that I would change was that we went to the 4:30 show and he was too wound up once we got home. It didn't help that we had company as soon as we got there. But next time I will take him to an earlier show. And by the way, I did change his diaper before we left! Oh well!!
