Blueberry Festival 2015

It was Labor Day weekend and that meant it was time for the Blueberry Festival again!!! This year we did things a little differently because we had a family wedding in the Indy area during the weekend as well. So we condensed our Blueberry visit to just Monday and that worked fantastically. We had made the promise to the kids that they could get the ride wristbands this year. I found that if I bought them in advance I could save $5/each. So my best friend and I bought them earlier in the week. First thing Monday morning, we headed down for the parade. This has become tradition since L was just a few months old, the kids and I have yet to miss one.

I just had to add this now/then. The pic on the left is from 2009 and the pic on the right is from this year.
Our old friend.

This guy was really cool.

After the parade we headed back to Adam's parent's house for lunch. It was suppose to be a super hot and humid day, so we thought we would wait a bit after lunch before going back. Well it sort of backfired. The temps were so crazy that it never really got any cooler. So back to the park we went for the kids to ride all the rides. They normally only get to ride on 3-4 rides each year, but now with the wristbands and being taller, they could go on almost anything they wanted. First up, the bigger kid roller coaster. They loved this so much they went on it about 4 times!

And of course a ride down the giant slide a few times!

They were very excited to go on this "big kid" ride.

And this was one of the last rides they went on. They were a bit nervous, but because this never went upside down, they braved it. D screamed the entire time, but they both loved it!

They both said this was the best year ever!

Blueberry Festival 2014

Labor day always brings with it our annual trip to the Blueberry Festival in Plymouth. We head down on Sunday night for a quick tour of the park, and then to see the fireworks. Then Monday morning is the parade, and we head back into the park for a good long fun day.

This year, the kids got to make their own small candles and each made their own jump rope in the pioneer camp area.

This is Blueberry Hank, he leads the parade!
 Our only favorite clown!

This is both kid's favorite group in the parade.

Then after the parade, when we headed back into the park, the kids went to purchase the items they picked out the night before. D picked out a wooden sword, and L picked out a marshmallow shooter crossbow.
And then it was time for rides. They went on their first roller coaster, and loved it!!!

2013 Blueberry Festival

Every year we have a tradition of going to the Marshall County Blueberry Festival over Labor Day weekend. The first one we spent together was 12 years ago when we worked a booth for my place of employment way back when. And we have yet to miss one in 12 years! This year was a hot one!!!!  We like to spread our time out over the entire weekend, so none of us get too hot and tired. The first night was Saturday, the kids were able to use a giant hand crank to make their own jump rope, although they are looking forward to the day they can use it as a rope ladder in a tree house.

We also discovered these cool guys walking around, and L insisted on having his picture taken with them.

We capped off the first night with Blueberry shakes and listening to a great folk rock band.

The next day we enjoyed free samples from Chobani...

found Waldo...

rode some of the fun rides...

and watched a fun firework display with family and friends complete with glow in the dark necklaces, glasses, and pendants!

Monday morning is the parade, and sadly this year Adam had to work. So the kids and I packed some snacks and headed down to watch it.

Overall it was a fantastic weekend, and we are already looking forward to next year!

Pictures from our very busy summer-2012

I know that I have been MIA for most of the summer, and I am sorry for that. We have just been so crazy busy all summer, that we barely had time to breath. Here are some pictures from just a few things we have done!

I did my first two yarn bombs this year for our local Art Beat festival. A local group here was contacted to help cover all the trees in a 2 block stretch. So much fun!!

While at Art Beat, the kids both got to paint small canvas' to hang in an installation in our downtown library.

One weekend, while my brother-in-law and his girlfriend were in town, we headed down to Conner Prairie. What a wonderful fun time we all had!!!

 Throwing axes

Over the summer I bought a hand crank pasta machine on a local garage sale. So Adam and the kids made homemade pasta.

And of course we had to go see our local baseball team. The kids even got to run the bases.

L and D went on their first horse ride at our local zoo. They both LOVED it!

After a long day at a water playground, we stopped for the kids to try sno-cones for the first time.

I taught D how to finger knit.
And lastly this weekend we headed down to the Plymouth Blueberry Festival. We checked out the parade, rides, and all had blueberry shakes!
