A rundown on our week

It all started on Friday night. We had a grilled cheese party for my mom's group and one of the little boys started having a really hard time breathing. I kept the younger one while the mom took the other to the ER. It turns out that he had asthma and the beginning of pneumonia. Thank goodness they caught it in time. I was up until 12:30 working on a giant crossword puzzle for the hubby for his birthday. I had all his friends and family send in clues and answers for it. It rocked! I'll have to take a picture of the big one hanging up on the wall. Then at 2:30 am I woke up after hearing a crash. The cat had knocked the fish bowl off the top of the hutch and it shattered. There was water, glass, and rocks everywhere. So Adam and I worked quickly to clean it all up. RIP Dorothy #5 and 6!

Saturday, Adam went with a friend for a 10 mile run. They are training for a half marathon in a few weeks. While they were gone, the kids and I had to run to the store to buy more Easter eggs since the cat destroyed them with fish water. Let me tell you, it's not easy to find cheap eggs the day before Easter! Got home and made everyone yummy lunch. Off to nap time, I was the only one not sleeping. I got the eggs ready, baskets ready, and our bags for the day ready while they all took a nap. Get in the car and head out for our trip. We had a friend having a birthday party, but it turned into a birthday party for 3 of the guys. It was a blast! All the friends were there, with all the kids, and tons of yummy food. I made a rainbow cake that I will blog about later. It turned out super cool!

On the way home at 1am our time, the car dies on the toll road about an hour away from home. Luckily it was not too far from our friends house, and they were just leaving the party we were at. They have a 3rd car and had offered to let us borrow it when we were having trouble in the past. They came and got me, took me to their house, where they gassed up their CRV, we called the tow truck, and I headed out to get Adam and the kids. I was really freaking out the whole time. I was scared, it was cold out, and luckily the kids slept through the entire thing. Our friends helped us out too by paying for the towing. We called and found out that you only have 2 hours before they will impound your car on the toll road. NICE! We were able to tow it to their house too. At that time we didn't know what was wrong with it yet. Adam got the kids, still strapped in the car seats, into the new car without waking them up. We gathered everything that we needed that night, and just then, the tow truck got there. Once we had a plan, everything moved very smoothly. We were off back home! I was exhausted so when we got to the rest stop, Adam took over driving. We got to the corner right by our house and the gas station there is packed. Now this is very strange since it 4 am! There were 50 cars in the gas station and on the roads around it. There were also cops everywhere. Still not sure what happened since it hasn't been in any papers or on any news.

Sunday, the bunny was tired! We hid eggs and had the baskets all ready. The kids loved it. The kicker was that we left our camera at the friends house that had the party, so no pictures! Urgh!!! We got everyone ready and headed off to Adam's parents house. We had a wonderful lunch with all his brothers and his sister. We had an egg hunt there too. The only problem was that the kids didn't get a nap that day, and after being super tired from the crazy night before, they were zonked in the car coming home. That meant that when we got home at 7pm (normal bed time), they were wide awake. So another late night. In the mean time, Adam has come down with an awful cold. But the plus side is that we think it was the timing belt on the car that came off.

Monday, try to figure out what to do with the car. We don't have any money to fix it, no credit cards, and pay day is the 15th. Adam took the day off from work to get better and figure out what to do. We took money out of our bank and started a new account with the bank we have wanted to switch to because we hear that we can get a line of credit. So we wait to hear back. 5:30pm we hear that no we didn't get it. Okay, now what! Our great friends Brian and Emily call and tell us that they can loan us the money, and we can pay it back whenever we can. How awesome is that!

Tuesday, after naps (Adam took the day off again), we head into Valpo to check the car out. We get there and empty it out because who knows how long we aren't going to have it. Call the garage, and set up to have another tow truck come and get it. We wait for them, and follow them to the garage. They will take a look at it and let us know tomorrow. We head over to Brian's house and meet him for dinner so he can give us the money. We stop at my dad's house since we were right there. And another late night.

Wednesday, I head over to my mom's house with the kids, and Adam goes back to work. All is going great except that I haven't heard back from the garage. Now I'm worried. It turns out it was the timing belt, and they changed the water pump all for less then the other garage was going to do it for. Great! Get home and Adam tells me that the landlord tells him that they are coming tomorrow with a real estate agent to take pictures of the house. You see, they are going to sell it! So now I have to clean the house like a mad person! Because I already feel like I can't get anything done for almost a week, now I have to do it in a night! Thanks!

Thursday, thankfully everything is getting better! The car is fixed and we will be picking it up on Saturday. I think they came and took pictures (don't know because they never told me a time and I was gone for 2 hours this morning), and the house is clean!

The moral of the story is that we have amazing friends that will help us out with anything!

Crazy Weekend!

We have had the most crazy weekend! And not all good stuff either. I will play catch up later, but here it is in short. Friday 2:30 am the cat knocks the fish bowl off the top of the hutch, shattering it. Saturday night 1 am, the car dies on the toll road an hour away from home. Sunday was a great Easter dinner with Adam's family. There is more (good, and bad), but I am too tired, and too worried to think about it now. Thankfully our friends that lived near where we were stuck have a spare car for us to borrow!

So Tiffany, I know that I said I would mail out your prize today, but it looks like it will happen later this week if that's alright.

I'm going to take a nap!

Camping in the living room

On Saturday before vacation was over, Adam set up the tent in the living room for him and the kids to go camping in. The kids went bonkers over it. L has been obsessed with camping for a while now, not sure why, and both kids got backpacks for Christmas. L even got a Diego camping set from Aunt J so he was even more insistent to go camping. Silly kids don't understand that we live in freezing cold Indiana where you can't go camping comfortably until June. So they each got their backpacks, a blanket, and a pillow. They even put some of the play food from the kitchen set in the bags. It was too cute. They went looking for animals so I got on Google image search and looked up pictures of animals for them to find. Overall a great way to waste a cold and dreary Saturday afternoon!

And on to a car update.... we are still having trouble with the damn thing! After replacing the radiator, starter, battery, and distributor cap, not to mention adding 2 bottles of fuel injector cleaner it now doesn't want to go any faster than 20mph and then it revs way high, kicks into the next gear and we start all over again. Adam will check a few things tonight when he gets home from work, and hopefully it's just the fuel filter like someone suggested.

The kids in the tent. Yeah, look at those blankets, we aren't "hippies"

Playing, and camping

Cute as a button D

A quick update

Wow, I can't believe that it has been that long since I had a new post on here. Sorry guys! But as you all know, with the holidays comes little free time! Since last posting we had many Christmas parties with family and friends and tons of presents to open. The kids have been super rambunctious, and the hubby is on vacation until the 5th (which could be good or bad depending on how you look at it!). The kids got some really great things this year, the biggest being a wooden train table with the whole train set, and a wooden play kitchen with lots of fun food and pots and pans. They also got tons of movies, and little people, which are always good times in our house. The hubby and I got some really neat things too. Mostly joint gifts, which is fine by us, new bedding that we desperately needed (the last new bedding we got was when we got married 4 1/2 years ago!), a 5 quart T-fal pan, some great cookbooks, a snowflake pancake pan, and most of all the 2 new tires on the car. We did end up having car trouble coming home from Christmas Eve at my mom's house, but luckily it was just because it was so freakin' cold and we were low on antifreeze.

The kids are having a great time playing with all the new stuff, and having daddy around all the time. They are all hopped up on holiday cheer I think! L actually got sick when we got home Christmas day from my dad's house, 3 times. We really think it was just all the junk he had consumed within the last few days, but mostly the 3 cups of orange juice he had at dad's house.

It felt good to be able to pay most of the bills on time this pay check too. That hasn't happened in a very long time! But I have a allergist dr. appointment tomorrow, so lets rack up more bills!! I promise to post some pictures from all the festivities later, but I'm too beat right now to do it. I'm typing this while waiting out the kids to go to sleep. You see, Santa the dear old man, took the kids pacifiers to new babies that need them and we are now a pacifier free house. It was a long time coming, and actually is going better this time around than the last. The kids don't scream constantly for hours before finally passing out this time. Instead we have them farting around trying to stay awake. L keeps getting out of his big boy bed, or stomping his feet on the bed or wall. It's very frustrating! And last night both kids were up from midnight until 4:30. Adam was up with them until 4, and I woke up at 1:30 and was up with them the rest of the time. I am exhausted! It is only quarter to 8 and I'm ready for bed myself! Well, I better go yell at L again. I can hear him out of bed.

I'll post pictures either later tonight or tomorrow!

Where I have been

Alright, so you may have been wondering what the heck happened to me. Well it was an extremely busy and stressful weekend, and I'm still trying to play catch up!

Day 13: We had Adam's brother, Ben, and our friend Jackie over for dinner. I made a BBQ turkey pizza, and side salad. For dessert we had a pumpkin layered loaf that I made and then the Heet family nutroll! My father-in-law has taken up the tradition of making his mom's famous nutroll and boy does he do a good job. After dinner and the kids went to bed, we played Jenga and Uno. A good time was had by all!

Day 12: What a crazy day! We headed out to my mom's house 1 1/2 hours away for breakfast with Santa. Adam stayed at a coffeeshop to do work while we went to the breakfast. Long story short, he had my phone, I left my mom's house to go get him, the kids were sleeping in the backseat, got a flat tire, the spare was flat, I had to call mom's boyfriend to save me. My mom came to get the kids and I, while Jerry worked damn hard to get the tire off to find out that both the tire and the spare were trash. So they bought us 2 new tires! We headed over to a friends house that night to watch 2 horrible movies, and spent the night out there. Didn't do much just the 2 of us but we spent tons of time together!

Day 11: My brother-in-law Tom graduated with his Master's degree. We are all so very proud of him. It was a long day and we didn't get home until late. We were happy just to spend the night in our own bed!

Day 10: I had a Mom's Night In with the moms from my mom's group. So no real togetherness this night, but after the weekend we had I think that was alright!

Day 9: Brother-in-law Ben came over for dinner. After he left Adam and I made some applebutter again. Don't tell anyone, but that is what they are getting for Christmas from us. I am using recycled glass jars, and made a tag and everything so they look really nice. I will put another post up with all the pictures because I'm jsut too lazy to start all over again!

Day 18: Hand puppets

Day 18: Adam and I made hand puppets out of brown lunch bags and construction paper. They turned out really cute. I made a kitty and piggy, and Adam made a fish and a lion. Of course Adam's are way better than mine, but that's what I get for marrying a artist! (He also reminded me that he taught art to kindergarten through 8th grade!) We had a ton of fun and this morning when the kids came downstairs they spotted them instantly! Although L first called them monsters and then presents. He has been having fun playing with them. He actually had piggy sneeze, asked me for a tissue for him, made him blow his nose, and wipe. Can you tell we have had the evil cold a few times this year?? D has just been kicking them around the living room. Oh well!

Car update: So Adam changed the starter in the car all by himself and that was what was wrong!! Thank goodness, we have a car again. It's no fun having a broken car, it's really no fun when all you have is that one car. It took him almost 4 hours, but he did it. Hurray! I added pictures of his hands after so you can see what the result was. Remember it was a high of 25 degrees that day too!! I was good and brought him a cup of hot soup while he was working. And I shoveled the driveway so that he didn't have to. Am I good or what?

Adam very happy to be done

Gross!!

Our 25 days of Christmas!

So the hubby and I were flipping channels the other day and caught a couple on Oprah saying that for the 12 days of Christmas they make sure they do things together whether that be a date night out or staying in and baking cookies together. Adam looked at me and said that he thinks we should do a project together every day until Christmas. We may have to get creative some days, but I think it sounds like fun. So far we made a paper chain for the tree, an advent calendar for the kids out of paper, and a pumpkin pie. We actually missed yesterday and started this a few days early.

We missed yesterday because in the morning when we went to take him to work the car was dead. We have been having a problem with the car starting on wet days because the distributor cap and rotor need to be replaced, and so with all the cranking on the battery to get it going, it drains the battery. So Adam rode his bike to work in the snow/sleet weather, had his brother pick him up from work, and they took the battery to Wal-mart (where we bought it). They said that it will hold a charge and that they will recharge it, the only thing was that they were closing and he needed to go back this morning! So home they came, Adam had to walk to his sister's house this morning at 6:30 in the snow, borrow her car, head to Wal-Mart, to find out they didn't charge the stupid thing, wait 30 min. for them to do it, come home and head to work. Luckily he did stick the battery in the car and thankfully it does work now. He will pick up a distributor cap and rotor tonight and hopefully install them this week.

Sorry to get off topic, but that is why we missed last night. On top of all that, both kids came down with a horrible cold! What a start to the week! As soon as I take pictures of the things we did already I will post them, and every day I will try to post what we did for the 25 days of Christmas!
